Texas Hill Country Umpire Association is now taking registration to umpire for the 2009 spring season. THCUA schedules baseball and softball umpires for Hays, Manchaca, North Hays and San Marcos complexes. No experience necessary but you must sign up as a member and attend our umpire training clinic on February 7th (10am) and February 8th (12pm) at the Hays Youth Baseball and Softball Assc (HYBSA) complex. THCUA has a yearly membership due of $20.00 Fees are $0.50 per game called. Other items necessary to umpire are a dark blue umpire shirt, grey slacks, ball bag, plate brush, indicator and time piece. Those umpires that wish to call for many years or call higher levels of ball will also need to invest in leg guards, chest protector and a mask. Umpires can earn between $12.00 - $15.50 an hour.
